3 Down, 3 to Go...

In the traditional "Back to School" style (traditional as in I did this once....like 2 years ago):

Distraction-enabler - I mean! Computer....check!

Adorable notebooks....check!

Enough pens/pencils for the entire seminary....check!

The realizations that:
a) I'm apparently making it EXTREMELY obvious that I'm a girl in primarily a men's world & that:
b) all these patterns together would make Tim Gunn cry.... CHECK!

Alright, kids....I'm off to school!

Talk Thursday // Summer Planning

Since Monday I've been contemplating what my summer will look like and how I will try and spend almost four months of not being in class (wooooohooooooo!)

Well, I've devised myself a little "to-do" list for the summer and I'm going to share it with you. =)

1. Ride bike to Flaming Geyser & back (this will require building up stamina)
2. Reorganize bookshelves (they are not in alpha order and it's driving me NUTS)
3. Finish The Coffeehouse Gospel & All-Star Missions Churches
4. Go on a road trip (or several)
5. Start Comprehensive Written Report for internship class
6. Write training materials for the Orchard
7. Pre-write one month's worth of lessons for Orchard
8. Go to the drive-in movie
9. Review Hebrew & Greek (likely closer to August)
10. Get a tan
(Bonus #11: Go on a date (but not like the two blind dates from last summer...those were BAD!))

I'm excited about this summer.

So I'm asking: what are your plans for the summer? What do you normally do? What do you want to do? And when are you going to come visit me? =)

The Murtaugh List

If you don't watch CBS' "How I Met Your Mother" you are missing out. Not only is it a delightful batch of hi-larious fused with random and awesome, sometimes it even makes you think.

Which is what happened last night.

Last night's episode, "The Murtaugh List", was surprisingly thought-provoking. Ted, one of the main characters, has kept a list of things that he is "too old to do." The list is based on a character from the movie "Lethal Weapon", in which Danny Glovers' character (Murtaugh) says "I'm too old for that sh**." Because of Ted's list, another HIMYM character, Barney, retaliates with a list of things that you should be "too young to do."

And it made me think: what are the things that I'm too young/too old to do? Is there anything? Should there be anything? And I think it's subjective. Your list is going to be different from my list. Which is great!

So therefore I ask: What things are you too old to do? What things are you too young to do? Let's compare.

At 23, "I'm Too Old For This Stuff" (The Murtaugh List):
- Using the phrase "That is legit"
- Dating someone 21 or younger
- Failing to take responsibility for my actions
- Failing to plan for moments beyond the present
- Thinking I know it all
- Thinking other people "have it together"

At 23, "I'm Too Young For This Stuff" (The Mickey Mouse Club List):
- Being stuck in my ways
- Knowing what I want to "do" with the rest of my life
- Feeling like I "need" to be settled down
- Dating someone 31 or older
- People thinking I could have a 16-year-old kid (...Vladimir...)
- Tapered or pleated jeans

Here's to life - at any age. =)
