Talk Thursday // Movies

I got a phone call this morning from my sister and her man. The first thing I heard was "Put your hand down, Little Steve!!"

For most of you, that probably doesn't tickle you the way it did me. But I know it's from Get Over It and it seriously makes me laugh every. single. time. I might have even chortled.

There are just some movies, some lines that stick with us forever. And there are those movies that, no matter what, if it's on, I can't help but watch.

So...let's discuss: what are those movies that you just have to watch? What are some lines that you've heard that make you laugh every time?

Mine are:

* Anything by Mel Brooks ("Would you like to roll in zee hay?" "Roll, roll. Roll in zee hay....")
* Wayne's World ("She will be mine. Oh yes. She will be mine." "If she were a president, she'd be Babe-raham Lincoln.")
* Tommy Boy ("Richard, who's your favorite Little Rascal? Is it Alphalpha? Or is it Spanky?...Sinner.")
* Steel Magnolias ("Here! Take a whack at Weezer!" "You are evil & you must be destroyed.")
* The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas ("You know what burns my ass? A flame about 3 feet high.")
* When Harry Met Sally ("You know it funny...you look like a normal person, but really, you're the angel of death.")
* Return to Me ("Whatever you do, don't shave your legs." "Why?" "...hairy legs are your only link to reality." "You should needle-point that on a pillow." "I just might. It kept me a virgin until, you know, whenever.")

What are yours?

I'm the WORST at remembering movie lines or movies in general. I've been known to pick out a movie, bring it home & my husband says "we just watched this 2 months ago." yeah - it's bad.
BUT! I do have a couple of faves that have lasted the test of time...(although I can't swear I have them exactly right!

Raising Arizona - "Do these balloons blow up into funny shapes?"
"Only if you think round is funny."

Oh Brother Where Art Thou - "Well if this place ain't a geographical oddity...2 weeks from everywhere."

I love movie lines, some movie lines that I can't pass up are

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (not the johnny depp version, this is also my fave movie.)
Best line:"I've just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday before we've learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn't matter in the slightest. Pencils ready!"

Dirty Dancing
Best Line: "I carried a watermelon?!"-I use this line ALL the time.

Drop Dead Gorgeous
Best Line(s): "I chose Mount Rushmore. 'Cause to live in a country where you can take an ugly old mountain and put faces on it, faces of great Americans who did so much to make our country super great. Well, that makes me Rebecca Leeman, proud to be an American."

"THE SWAN ATE MY BABYYYYY. The Swan Ate My Baby"

I am sitting here thinking and thinking and can't think of one line. I definitely love the Return to Me one you used - ah yes, now I remember another one from that movie that I love. "I knew it. I thought there was something wrong with him, he was married..." "Where is he, I'll kill him." "Gracie has his dead wife's heart." Oh, he's not married? Oh, ok kids let's go get some ice cream". Tragic comedy at it's best!!

Oh sister. You make me laugh. Right now I sit watching Mighty Ducks, which makes me think of Night at the Roxbury, "And I was like, Emilio, Emilio! It was the mighty duck man himself, I swear!". From there, I go to many Will Ferrel quotes (most of which now come from SNL best of Will Ferrel). And then my brain loses all consciousness whilst running through approx. 545,236,357 quotes. But I leave you with this thought: "See there's a difference between like and love. Cause I like my Sketchers, but I love my Prada backpack." "But I love my Sketchers." "That's because you don't have a Prada backpack." "Oh..."
