Talk Thursday//Memories

In an attempt to get to know my reading audience, riddle me this, riddle me that:

What is your favorite memory? Ever.

I'll share. It's a little personal, so beware. =)

A friend (who shall remain nameless) and I were driving back from Kansas City one Spring Break day and since the vehicle we were occupying did not have a radio or tape deck for the iPod, we decided to sing hymns the whole way from KC to Bolivar - about a 2.5 hour drive. It was very sweet and wonderful and I really like that memory.

So, come on...tell me yours. Let's share.

(And two cool points for the person who points out the connection between the picture & the topic! Go!)

Midnight - not a sound from the pavement.
Has the moon lost her memory,
She is smiling alone.
In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet,
And the wind begins to moan.

Memory - all alone in the moonlight.
I can smile at the old days,
I was beautiful then.
I remember the time I knew what happiness was.
Let the memory live again.

Every street light seems to beat a fatalistic warning.
Someone mutters and the streetlamp gutters,
and soon it will be morning.

Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise.
I must think of a new life,
And I mustn't give in.
When the dawn comes tonight will be a memory too,
And a new day will begin.

Burnt out ends of smokey days,
the stale cold smell of morning.
The streetlamp dies, another night is over,
another day is dawning.

Touch me, it's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun.
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is.
Look, a new day has begun.

hey! I wasn't ready!

ok...favorite memory ever...thats a tough one.

I guess I would say from my childhood...any time spent at my grandparents' cabin...the sweetest times ever! singing while my dad & grandpa played guitar, "scurffing" with my cousins (involved steep slope, pine trees & their needles, a sled & someone eventually crying), catching tadpoles down by the crick...wow, makes my childhood sound downright idyllic, huh! Guess thats why it is my favorite time & place to "visit"!

Oh...CATS...

My favorite memory, well one of them, comes from when my Grandparents owned an A&W. I would sit on my grandpa's lap while he was visiting with his coffee buddies.

I would eat the crust off of one of the guy's pie and Grandpa would ask me "What are granddaughters good for sarah?"

To which I would always answer "Sittin on grandpa's laps!"

Loken, you get 2 cool points for being the first to know CATS and 4 more extra cool points for transcribing the song here for all of us to enjoy. Way to be awesome. =)

My favorite (not too distant) memory was at my wedding 22 days ago.

My wife an I's former pastor and his wife were praying over us in the ceremony and I began sobbing like a little lady. I mean hand over the mouth sobbing. It was a mess. I was a mess. I was weeping because I have never felt more peaceful than that day and I felt so incredibly loved and supported by so many people in the light of some real hardships, I was completely overwhelmed.

I think good overwhelmption happens far too infrequently.

PS: This question was incredibly tough to answer. What a hard question to answer specifically and inclusively and exclusively. Maybe it's just my sleepy brain though.

PPS: I'm emotional when I'm not well rested. :) I may start crying right now. :*)
