Oh Billy Madison. How much laughter you bring to me.
All over the country, summer is beginning to wind down and school is beginning to get started back up. Here is NW, we won't go back for a few more weeks, but the feeling of energy is already in the air.
I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I love shopping for school supplies. There's something about starting a new year with new things that just makes me feel hopeful. It might possibly be my most favorite time of year. Even more favorite than Hannukkah. And I love Hannukkah.
But I know that for many of you, school does't affect you anymore. Or you disklike school. Some of you LOVE it too. To which I give you a Blogger High-Five!
So today's question: what are you most excited about for this coming school year? Whether or not you're in school, what excites you most about the time from August/September to May/June?

we're starting a new 6th grade class at our church and jen and i are teaching it. that will be exciting.
i love school also. and i want to shop for school supplies even though i'm not going to school right now. it makes me nostalgic. but, soon enough, i'll be going back. and then i'll get to join the frenzy that is collecting what i need for the long year ahead.
crunchy leaves & scarves! although I usually have to wait until late Oct-early Nov around here.
Pee-Chee folders - how many hours of classtime I wasted altering the illustrations!
My favorite part of the school year always takes place before the semesters start: I love buying books. And then I always browse through the books of classes I wanted to take. Without fail I buy a few of those, too. I'm a sucker.
Finally I learned to not be a total sucker and buy from the SBU Bookstore, though.
You are totally speaking my love language---I LOVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES! I love the fact that the notebooks are blank. There future content unknown to me. It's a blank slate of sorts and full of possibilies.
It's like a do-over!

I am super jealous of the girls I work with. THey are talking about starting back at the university week after next. I thought I was ready to graduate, but I already miss school. And learning. And friends. I'll miss the excitement of moving back to Bolivar and seeing everyone. And choosing a first day of school outfit! Oh, I could go on and on...
Do I totally ruin this post because I am the most excited that this Fall will be the first Fall in 20 years - yes, 20 years - that I am NOT in school.

School sucks. Buy now I'm the one who makes it suck for my students. I like the change of face. Even if my school is in the second half of it's first semester already.
I love back to school whether it is me going to school (been many a year since that was the case) or my 3 girls going to school or just watching others in our community. I love school supplies and new clothes, though for years it was an extraordinary painful experience from the financial perspective. I can remember feeling quite faint at the check out counter. I love football and the challenge of helping girls find reasonably priced dance clothes. I loved choir and school concerts. This will be the last year for me to experience high school with one of my 3 girls. It is wonderful to have you, Ms. Sarah in Master's degree program so that I can still enjoy school shopping. Thanks for sharing that joy with me.
