Talk Thursday // Today

Yikes! It's 9.38 pm PST and I'm just now getting home and getting to Talk Thursday! This is my favorite day of the week and I almost missed it! But even for you Midwesterners I still made the cut. (Sorry East Coast - I failed you.)

Since our Talk Thursday is almost over, what was the best part of your day today?

Mine was meeting the newest addition to Veritas church - Addison Reynolds. She still looks kind of like an alien mixed with a Sharpei, but I like her.

That or the crab mac 'n cheese from Twist in Belltown. It could be a toss-up.

What was yours?

wow, you just barely made it!

best part of the day for me (I have to be honest) was getting my next disc of how I met your mother in the mail from netflix.

could also have been getting an email from my uncle.

I'm gonna win Jesus points, but leading a Bible study and sharing some of what I've been learning in the past month.

It's huge. I'll be doing a post about it soon.

Word: outch: when ouch isn't enough. sometimes you have to emphasize some T.

Mine was having this lady that sings in Gladys Knight's choir - for reals - in Las Vegas record me singing "Give Me Jesus" in the hotel lobby at 1:45am. I got to share a lot of my testimony and she showed me love and community. She's mormon. It made my heart happy and sad.

Boy do I miss singing.

Best part of my Thursday was crawling into bed at 12:30 a.m. (so I guess technically that would be Friday!) and closing my eyes.
Just one of those days...

I am commenting here on your comment at SCL today.

Why do YOU think that people don't talk about the whore of Babylon, and what do you think of the song, The Beast and the Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold?

Unfortunately, I know nothing about the whore of Babylon. I wouldn't have even known what you were talking about if I hadn't been prompted to find the Scripture reference for the Beast and the Harlot, which is Rev. 17-18 (that is what you were talking about, right?)

Anyhow, I think there's probably a lot of reality in your suspicion of an aversion to the word "whore."

I was wondering if it might be due to some latent sexism, as in, "even when discussing evil, we will give more attention to the male figure, and basically ignore the female counterpart."

P.S. Your blog looks cool.
