Talk Thursday // Getting to Know You

Apparently the things I find humorous in life do not match ya'll's sense of humor (according to recent reader comments). I can be ok with that.

But that makes me feel like I don't know you, the Hephzibah community, as well as I thought. (In my head I'm hearing Season 1 HIMYM: "I want to know your soul; what makes you cry?" HIMYM fans...you're welcome).

So today's Talk Thursday is less of a "discussion" and more of a reader survey. If you want to be awesome and famous, you will answer these questions. If you want an end to world hunger, you will answer these questions. If you want Lady Gaga to stop singing/being crazy, you will answer these questions. And if you want me to stop hounding you with promises I can't keep based off of your responses, you will answer these questions. =)

Let's talk. Thursday-style.

What is your favorite comedic movie?

Who is your favorite comedian?

What typically makes you laugh on a day-to-day basis?

Have you ever laughed so hard that you wet yourself? (And let's be honest...we've all done it, so there's no shame (ok, there's a little bit of shame, but no judgment (ok, there's a little bit of judgment, but there will be no mocking (that's not true....there will be mocking...))))

What would you say is the ratio of your laughter to your tears? And to clarify, this is tears of sadness, not tears of laughter.

How would you classify yourself as a laugher? The Silent Shaker, The Boisterous Boomer, The Snorter, The Tiny Tee-hee-hee-er?

What a great Talk Thursday!!!!

Favorite comedic movie: Tommy Boy, The Jerk, The Hangover, Little Miss Sunshine. I have a taste for low-brow comedy. :)

Favorite comedian: Mitch Hedburg, Mike Birbiglia and anything Ricky Gervais does. LOVE them!

Day-to-day basis: Nymag.com Vulture Blog. And some of my coworkers are pretty funny.

Wetting myself: Yes, I have laughed that hard. Not a whole lot to where it was noticeable, but enough to where I had to change. That's gross.

Ratio: I laugh about 95 percent more than I cry. I don't really cry.

Classification of laughter: All of them, just depends on what I'm laughing at, where I'm laughing and why I'm laughing.

1. It's a tie, between Get Over It and Batman and Robin. I know, Batman and Robin isn't meant to be comedic, but seriously? George Clooney, Arnold Swajhfsdojsdager, Chris O'Donnel, Uma Thurman; all trying to seriously play their characters. Try and convince me that isn't comedy.
2. I don't think I know enough comedians (outside SNL) to have a fav. If you count Tina Fey, I choose her. She is freakin' funny.
3. Stephen and I like to check out failbooking.com, fail blog, and people of walmart.com. Also, my super friend Anna Robertson sends me links to hilarious videos online.
4. Nope, I can't recall a time I've laughed that hard. I can recall a time a friend laughed that hard while in my dorm room. That was hilarious.
5. Honestly, probably about 60/40 laughter to tears. Most of the time (these days) if I laugh too hard, I start bawling. Don't understand it, but it happens.
6. It depends. If something catches me off guard funnily, I am a boomer. If funny is expected, then I am more a silent shaker.

as i sit, monitoring my class, i decided to go ahead and fill this out, even though i'm not sure how..

Movie - airplane. comedic perfection of straight acting and a story to tell, while completely bashing every movie it references. as well as just about anything Mel Brooks as well, or monty python.

Comedian - as much as i like laughing, i dont really keep up on comedians because with most you have to wade through a ton of trash to get to the funny parts, with the exeption of Brian Regan. I also happen to like some of Ray Romano's stand up, Sienfeld, and Jeff Dunham.
(and Dane Cook when he is in environments where he has to censor himself)

Day-to-day - how Thai and English translate into each other at times. xkcd, questionable content, johnny wander, apple geeks, and wasted talent.

Wetting myself - no

ration - i don't really cry much.. so maybe 98 - 2? idk.

laughter: i don't remember the classifications, but all of them, with the guffaw/gasp being the one that takes over when i just give into the laughter.. and sometimes highpitched giggles

Favorite comedic movie(s): Mel Brooks, and (almost) anything that SNL makes a movie about (ie: Wayne's World, Tommy Boy, Hot Rod, A Night At The Roxbury...)

Favorite comedian(s): Dane Cook, Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, Sinbad

Day-to-day: the blogs linked on my page, xkcd, the Fitz in the Morning show on 100.7 the Wolf

Wetting myself:...um....maybe.....

Ratio: I'm a crier, so I'll say 60:40::laughter:tears

Classification of laugher: I'm for shiz a Boisterous Boomer until I start laughing so hard that I become a silent shaker and then the aforementioned wetting myself may or may not occur.
