Dr. Freud? A Moment Please

Which of the following is not true about my most recent dreams?

A. Reggie & Ladye Love Smith yelling at me while Michael W. Smith (no relation) laughs at me because I can't scrape an ice rink?

B. Being involved in a group psychiatry ADD assessment where they refer to Jesus as "Patrick" and my best friend performs an interpretive dance for Jesus/Patrick as a cracking egg?

C. Mistakenly sending a text message and subsequently defenestrating myself in horror as a way of escape from the ramifications of said text?

D. Creating a life-size Shark/Whale exhibit in a hollowed out boat hull with a team consisting of a small child, a 40-year-old HS dropout and (I think) Mel Brooks?

If you answered "None of the above", you would be totally right.

Apparently, my subconscious is a crazy person. If I didn't know better, I'd say this was a result of too many drugs/alcohol. But I know better. Maybe I should lay off the Dr. Pepper....it must be getting to me.

Is anyone out there a dream interpreter? Cause I have some questions for you!

Observations

* Life is better when it is sunny

* Power-walking up a huge hill sucks

* Power-walking up a huge hill is necessary when your office has supplied you with an endless stream of carbohydrates during your workday

* Goldfish crackers & coffee do not mix well (either in the same container or in my mouth)

* Not all people needing a mental health appointment are crazy

* A diet of straight country music can only last so long

* A diet of straight Dr Pepper & coffee is bad for your kidneys

* A diet of straight vegetables is bad for...your chocolate intake

* It's not until you're about to obtain it do you realize just HOW exciting the prospect of getting health insurance is

* It's not until you realize how excited you are about health insurance that it becomes evident that you've become an "adult"

* Twitter is made all the more fun when the phone alert is birds chirping

* Twitter is made all the less fun when it comes straight to your phone as a text message

* With school starting in a week, getting the homework done early seems preemptive, but delightfully fulfilling

* I have missed blogging and all that it entails (not to be confused with entrails...I don't miss those)

Exegetical...

It's exegetical season again.

For those of you that haven't known me long enough to remember exegetical seasons, congratulations. It is that time of the school year when I become hermit-like, only eating the nuts and berries found near the library for food and speaking only in grunts. It is a brutal season for anyone near me, as well as for my own sanity.

The 2nd problematic layer of this exegetical season (which will run until November 30th if I'm lucky or December 15th if I'm not) is that I haven't had an exegetical season in almost 2 years. I can't remember how to write one, what to look for, and I'm easily distracted (the other day, instead of writing, I made a Christmas present for my parents and for my roomie).

So if you see a zombie-hermit-sleep-walker in the greater Seattle area mumbling about what it means to endure suffering for the sake of Christ and how that applys to our lives and in what ways, do not be alarmed. Just give the curly-headed creature a sip of Dr. Pepper and a cookie and send her back to her apartment. You'll have done the right thing.

And in other news, I've just learned about NeedToBreathe. And they're awesome. You should check them out.

Talk Thursday // Full Support

I must confess, I read this post on Bryan Allain's blog and stole the idea. Sorry. But it was too good a question to pass up! Therefore, comment here, and to repay him for my thievery, go comment over there too. =)

I know that you guys have very strong feelings on some stuff. So I ask: what are some things you fully support?

These things below are some things I give my 100% support to. If needed, I could come up with valid reasons why. I won't, but rest assured that I could. What about you?

* The Dr. Pepper Bottling Company

* Modesty

* Showering AT LEAST every other day

* Seattle Seahawks football (even when they suck)

* Wal-Mart

* The destruction of robots

* Proper hermeuntical methods

* Biblical studies

* Squirrel hunting

* Global missions

* The new iTunes Genius Mix feature

* T-Mobile

* Veritas Church

* Nestle CoffeeMate fat-free French Vanilla creamer

Febarple

Febarple: noun. A holiday designed for Lent-esque purposes, specifically in abstaining from beverage-related addiction consumption February 15-April 15 each year.

Yes, friends, it's that time of the year. For those of you that don't know, each year (this is year #3) I celebrate a little known holiday called Febarple (defined above). The first year involved a bet - dinner for the winner (and I ain't gonna turn down no free dinner!) Since then I've simply been doing it for myself. I like to prove that I can do it.

I love Dr. Pepper. You could seriously put it in an IV and I'd be golden. If I could, my pantry would look like this....

As I've mentioned before, I love traditions. This is a tradition I do, even though I do it by myself now.

But these next two months will be tough because I RARELY go one day without my sweet elixir. I'm sure my dreams will consist of several variations on this:

Pray.

**** UPDATE ****
Due to mass volumes (ie. 2) comments that my definition of Febarple should be expanded, I have done so above. If any of you care to join me in the tradition of Febarple of your own beverage addiction, let me know. It'll be a team-building thing! =)

I choose DP... what about you?
